Ted Nugent will be joined by Derek St. Holmes for a 34 city trek this summer that includes a stop in the bluff city on 8/31/11. Uncle Ted was gracious enough to find a few minutes between wild boar hunts and band rehearsals for the "I Still Believe" tour to speak with jungleroom.com...

I've read that you are a fan of Memphis music (Sam and Dave in particular)--any thoughts you care to share about Sun, Stax or Hi Records?
Black musicians remain the driving force in all great music forever. All my influences were and are black soulmasters or white guys trying like hell to be as authentic and authoritative as our black heroes. We perform "Soul Man", "Hold On I'm Comin" and many Motown, James Brown, Wilson Picket & other dynamic black artists that taught us how from the beginning. There would be no great music without them.
Ever get your hands on any Memphis barbeque when you are in town? Do you have an opinion on the wet sauce vs the dry rub barbeque rib debate?
Let the debate end, for all BBQ created by meat loving connoisseurs is heaven on earth, wet or dry, oak or hickory smoked, beef, pork and venison. Life is a BBQ and I love/crave every killin and grillin minute of it! God bless Memphis BBQ!
In your opinion, does a Memphis type sauce work on venison?
Well hell yeah! And wild boar, pheasant, duck, goose, dove, rabbit, squirrel, grouse, woodcock, quail, all dead stuff deserves a good killer sauce!
Derek St. Holmes is along for the tour this summer, how did that come about?
Right time, right place. He has always joined us on stage over all these years for numerous jamming and performing the classics he sang on. We just figured it is all too powerful to leave to happenstance and decided to make it fulltime. Derek, Mick Brown and Greg Smith and I create the ultimate rock band. The boys deserves me!
There was talk of a reunited Damn Yankees with Damon Johnson in the fold. Is it still a possibility?
Anything is always possible. My musical dreams have no bounds and I have always been surrounded by worldclass virtuosos like Jack, Tommy, Michael, Derek, Mick, Greg and Damon Johnson. Let the jammin begin!
Did you record an album together that was never released? Were you not happy with the end result?
Damn Yankees created some killer new songs that unfortunately did not come to fruition with the recording team. Hopefully these masterpieces will be recorded properly someday. The boys ROCK!
You have a pretty loyal fan base in the Memphis area, what can your long time fans expect at the show at the New Daisy theatre?
Sheer all American R&B&R&R brutality. Our energy level has never been higher, the band never tighter, the spirit never so ferocious. We can hardly stand ourselves so anybody who doesn't have a killer time with us is just plain weird!
